In partnership with BG Foundation (BGF) and Dhara Shakti Foundation (DSF), we launched the Spreading Smiles programme to train and empower girls to become community leaders.
Our Vision. To create a network that facilitates an open channel of communication between mentors and underprivileged adolescent girls in order to equip them to become self-aware, compassionate leaders and informed citizens.
Our Mission. To identify and nurture Change Ambassadors among adolescent girls from underprivileged backgrounds through training programmes focussed on sharing, reflection, life skills, leadership, and social issues.
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the lives of marginalised communities were thrown into disarray. In particular, children and youths were affect whereby they now needed a safe space to learn and grow. Their intellectual and professional seemed threatened, as they felt isolated in the absence of regular school, the delays in achieving professional goals, and the prevailing economic hardships in their homes. Adolescent girls are especially vulnerable, considering prevalent social norms and an obscure future. They need an open channel of communication through which they can learn essential life skills and become employable. They need help and mentorship in adapting to the new normal. Thus, Spreading Smiles is born to create a lifelong network of Soul Sisters. New challenges bring new opportunities in social and economic life, and in nurturing compassionate leadership.
Through each Circle of Trust, Spreading Smiles seeks to empower our Change Ambassadors to become compassionate leaders and informed citizens. Thus far, we have trained more than 75 girls from Haryana, Rajasthan, Bihar, West Bengal, and Jammu & Kashmir. We provide smartphones to these girls, free of cost, through which they are able to access the modules and training of the programme. We thank all our knowledge and outreach partners for creating awareness and providing invigorating content for the Spreading Smiles programme.
